People hear "Great Falls" and they picture giant yards and long driveways. And yeah, a lot of it is. But there's also apartments and condos near the Village, and those have their own whole thing going on.
We got a call about a balcony cleanout. Guy had a bunch of old rusty metal patio chairs, a broken table, and these enormous ceramic planters that had been out there through like four winters and were now cracked and waterlogged and genuinely disgusting.
The chairs were fine. The table was fine. The ceramic pots were... not fine.
The Tetris Problem
Here's what nobody thinks about until they're standing in a building elevator with a 60-pound cracked ceramic pot: elevators in residential buildings are not big. And pots that are cracked and full of old wet soil have a tendency to leave a trail.
We lined the elevator floor with drop cloth. We wrapped the pots. We fit them in one at a time. My guy described it as "playing Tetris but the pieces weigh more than I do and also they might break and spill dirt everywhere."
Accurate description.
We got everything out with zero scratches on the elevator walls, zero noise complaints from neighbors (it was a Tuesday afternoon, nobody home), and zero dirt on the carpet. The client came out to check afterward and looked genuinely surprised that we hadn't made a mess.
That's kind of the goal honestly — do the job and leave no trace we were ever there except for the empty balcony.
He texted us later that evening: "Finally had my coffee outside. Worth it."
